Susan Dory a remporté de nombreux prix et son travail a été exposé dans de nombreuses galeries de renom aux Etats-Unis où sa carrière à pris un réel essort faisant de l'artiste une des personnalités incontournable de l'Art outre-Atlantique.

Dans sa série "Capsules", Susan Dory crée de la complexité par la répétition d'un élément simple unique. Elle construit ses oeuvres avec plusieurs couches et masques en prenant un soin particulier uax espaces "négatifs", espaces vides créés par ces formes.

"En utilisant des formes de capsules, Dory explore ses possibilités, les rangeant, déplaçant, décalant,  supperposant ou les plaçant en allignant dans l'espace. La forme des capsules est fascinante d'elle-même pas la manière qu'elle a de se déconstruire. Retirez ses deux extrémités courbes et il rests deux parallèles, comme le signe égal. D'autre part, retirer les 2 lignes parallèles laisse 2 courbes similaires à des parenthèses, ou le début d'une insertion de texte et ce qu'il ouvre comme possibilité", dit l'artiste.

Les plus récentes peintures de Susan Dory sont entre dureté et fluidité. Elle dessine des contours avec du ruban adhésif et de la peinture acrylique.
La palette de Dory évoque l'humeur et la mémoire, tout en établissant progressivement son propre sens de l'autonomie, qui évolue à partir d'une forme hybride d'association d'éléments personnels et de chose perçues.
Dory manipule consciemment les propriétés physiques de la peinture acrylique pour créer différents effets de surface. Ces surfaces variées influencent la façon dont la texture de la peinture apparaît au spectateur. Un "gloss" peut créer une note chaude, un "satin" un sentiment de proximité, et une surface mate peut absorber la luminosité. 
En outre, Dory organise ses motifs dans des compositions dynamiques qui sont fondées sur la pénétration des frontières rigides à travers son processus de stratification répétée.
