Hugo Pondz often visits New York. In his dreams and he is interested in both the urban landscape of the city and empty and forgotten places. He aims to create paintings that provide a strong sense of places in which the time stands still.
In terms of important influences, he admires and is mostly inspired by the work of the American artist Edward Hopper, Giorgio de Chirico and Jack Vettriano.
